I am just looking at buying a Fordson E27N, There appears to be no hood on the tractor? Did this tractor originally have a hood? I looked at other pics on the net and I cant tell. On this tractor, the top of the rad tank butts up against the fuel tank. Just wondering if a hood should cover all that up? Also anything else I should check out or be aware of before purcahsing this tractor? I am not familiar with Fordson.

THanks!!1

We had a Fordson E27N on our farm in NZ, a petrol model with battery, lights, starter etc. The cast iron radiator top tank does indeed butt up to the fuel tank and that"s about as fancy as it gets. We used it on fairly steep hill country and the position of the fuel cap at the rear end of the tank was a real pain when climbing, as fuel would spurt out the breather hole.

E27N's don't have a hood just the fuel tank which as you say sits under the radiator head at the front and on its mount at the rear just in front of the battery holder, I have two complete tractors of 1949 and 1950 vintage, the 49 had a six cylinder perkins diesal fitted after market and the 1950 modle as a factory fitted 6 cylinder diesal, i also some time ago parted with a petrol kero version, still the same set up. Hope this helps,
regards,
Steve P
