Hi guys
While investigating my smoking Dexta I discovered a possible source of the problem and would like to share it with you.
Where the fuel line enters the nozzle on the inlet manifold for cold starting I discovered that the nozzle has a small pressure valve in it.
There had been water in the fuel at some time (This fuel line does not go through the fuel filter) and this had caused the small spring holding the ball to corrode and fail, therefore releasing the pressure on the ball. This spring pressure is normally overcome by the priming pump pressure on the fuel tap to allow fuel to be sprayed into the manifold when cold starting. With the lack of pressure there was a constant dribble of fuel into the inlet manifold. A new nozzle cleared the problem straight away. A word of caution, you are screwing the brass nozzle into the aluminium manifold. Don't overtighten!
Regards to all Dexta owners.
