Urgent! I need the part number and a color digital picture of the proof meter (tach) on the Power Major, 1958 to 1964.
I am sending it to the new owners of Smiths Instruments in UK, the original manufacturer, to have a quantity of them made, but they can't find the original part number.
Contact me if you have this info or need one.

Roger,
When I sent you the email with all the information you required, I neglected to mention that some of the Rev Counters drive clockwise and some drive anti-clockwise. Did you get the email? At this stage I still haven"t seen a Rev Counter for the Power/Super Majors manufactured by AC.

Okay, I didn't know that. Is there a different part number? I will have to check out my RPM angle drive to see which direction it turns.
Thanks for that info.

After further investigation, I found out that the Power Major didn't begin until 1958. I tried to
get to your website but came up with a different
co. I also need a proof meter for a Power Major-
Will try to find the serial no, when I return to the ranch this week-end. I found one listed at agriline in the UK for 60 lbs and an estimated 15
lbs. for shipping. They only had one listed for all Power Majors regardless of year. I seem to recall in my parts book that they had different
meters for different years for Power Majors. If you can shed any light on this, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks, Dickie Hicks

As far as I can tell the Power Major had two different Proof Meters, one is a Smiths unit and the other made by AC (Ford).
60 pound ($110.00) doesn't sound like too bad a price if it is in working condition.
I have sent the Fordson part number to Smiths to see if they can cross reference it at all.
By the way, my website is F1engineering.com, thats a number one, not an "i".
We are super busy building the diesel motorcycles for the USMC.

Attn: Roger Flynn
I had to run up to the ranch last night, unexpectantly, and looked up my serial no. on the engine block of my original engine,( it was re-
placed by another used engine a few years back).
Turns out it"s a 1960. Also noticed that my proof
meter was an AC but didn"t bring the serial no. with me. As soon as I get it, I will e-mail it to you. I believe my parts book for the Power Major
lists 3 different proof meters, depending on the age of the tractor. I can fax the sheets covering
the proof meter to you next week if you"d like.
Thanks again,
Dickie Hicks

Thanks Dickie, I would appreciate that.
Where in the world are you located? I have a 10 acre horse ranch in the San Bernardino mountains just east of Los Angeles.
I don't have to run to the ranch 'cos I'm there already.

Roger - If and when these proofmeters become available, I"d be interested in a couple for my Super Majors as well.

Roger,
I have an earlier 50's model Power Major. Don't know the exact year. Someone tole me that the engine serial no. could determine what year model.
Do you know if this is correct or not? Also, I am
also looking fpr a proof meter for mine. Will
Smith Instruments be making any earlier 50's
proof meters?
Thanks for your help from a Texas Power Major Owner.

Thanks Doug, apparently some were made by Smiths and some by AC.

As soon as I get an answer as to cost etc. I will post it on the Forum.

Roger
