Super Dexta transmission?

Hi

I recently had to let my old Fordson Dexta go to the great junkyard in the sky ;-(
Was a great tractor but the transmission went to pieces (literally) My tractor repair shop had said up front that parts were extremely difficult to find for the transmission on the dexta and that the transmission was usually the first to go. He did find me a used transmission for $2000.00 but I decided to not go that route.

Anyway, now I am looking at a Ford 2000 Super Dexta. Seems to be in great shape. My question is does the 2000 have the same transmission as my Fordson? Don't want to run into the same trouble with the next tractor but I sure did like my Dexta!

Thanks for any advice
Peggy

Peggy - I bought my Super new in Nov. 1963 and it is still used daily. The only transmission trouble I've had is to rebuild the little ball on the end of the main gear shift ---- wore it out after probably 10,000 hrs use. The Supers use a Simms pump which is oil lubricated and must be changed at each engine oil change interval. Don't let this injector pump run out of oil. Overall , I'd have to say, that Super has been one of the best tractors this farm has ever seem.

I have just become the owner of a super dexta. I cannot find any ID except for casting numbers. How can I establish the year model? Where would I look for an ID plate? block casting number is 37111310. Head casting number is 37116140. Thanks for any help. Jerry

should be the same, you would be better off if you saved the old Dexta and parted it out since parts are hard to find
