A mechanic says that my injectors need to be removed and rebuilt. How big a job is this, and who does this kind of work? Thank you for your help.

Good to hear from you again, Mark. Sorry I haven't called you; it's been a busy month with a new job and family reunion.

I have seen a Super Major in the local classifieds. I'm wondering if you will be looking at that particular one. I would like to get together with you when you pass through. I'm right on the road to Redmond from the north. I am assuming the Monday you are talking about is next Monday, Oct. 4. I can meet you that day. Bring your injectors with you if it isn't a problem and we can discuss them at that time. My cell phone is 541-501-0956.

Ok.I just called but you were not there.

The tractor I am looking at is a parts tractor that might have a good motor. It is missing a lot of parts including the pump but the injectors are there.I have been waiting to hear if it has a cracked block as I have two mostly complete 1959 PM's here already. It would be fun to make a Roadless Super and somewhat practical. If anything I can trade one good tractor for an orchard model.

What is it that is wrong with your Super?Maybe something else is wrong?Smoke, white, blue, miss?Pulling the head might show some other problem.

Mark, sorry to have missed your call. I'm new to cell phones, and don't always have it with me. I'll get back to you.

My Super Major (1962 according to serial number) smokes, but it is gray and black. I think the two front injectors are not atomizing fuel properly, so it goes up the exhaust pipe unburned. I know the two front cylinders run cool, according to the mechanic who came and looked at the tractor. I'm no mechanic, so pulling the head is way out of my league.

The "Fordson Major" for sale in this area is lisited at $3K, so it must be a working model. The ad says "live hydraulics, exterior hydraulics, good rubber w/calcium." When we talk I'll give you the contact phone number if you are interested. I don't feel at liberty to share it here.

Go ahead and show the number if you like.My 1961 is my prime mover and don't need another good Super. My goal is to put together a Super Major Roadless, hence I am only missing a good motor for the two extra 1959 parts tractors.I also have a 1958 but it is probably going up for sale or will try to lower the front end somehow so that it can be used in the orchard. There is a weird air cleaner and it is easy enough to put the exhaust down.If anyone has an orchard Major maybe they could give me some ideas.
