Govenor Quit

I couldn't help noticing the talk about adjusting the govenor. But what would make it quit while the tractor was in use? It's a 1949, 35 Deluxe, and I've have it for years. I haven't attempted to adjust it yet, but it seems strange that while I was snow blowing with it, the engine suddenly started over revving

Most likely it needs a rebuild either the springs have broken or are very weak best to take it apart and have a look see. regards

By take it apart, I presume you mean pulling the timing cover? And is it dry behind the timing cover or is it lubed from the crankcase and easier to drain the oil pan first?
