Does anyone know e where to get a bracket for the 12V conversion...Or maby someone that has done it would like to post a simple diagram for making one...thanks

I'm going to have to make an alternator bracket for my T?-20 like the one in the photo in the article that I'm replying to.

Does anyone have plans for that bracket? Dimensions for the steel used, angles, etc?

John: Nice job. On your alternator support bracket is part of it sandwiched between the block and the front axle saddle? My question is about how the bracket is secured to the block? I ask because my tractor (49 TO-20) had been converted and someone fabricated a bracket that had 1/4" bar stock sandwiched between the front axle saddle and the block. To the upper outside edge of this bar stock was welded a u-type bracket to receive the alternator. It seems that this bar stock positioned between the block and the axle would cause the front end to be misaligned. Any detail you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, David,MI

Hay Dave, If you look real close at the bottom right of the picture you just can see that it is not sandwitched in. I bolted it on just above the front axel saddle. There is like two big bolts 5/8 if I remember right. Then there is like a 3/8 bolt in the top. Look at the pic of the back of it in my other post, that should help. Hope this helps. May be I should just take a better picture?

John: I was incorrect about the boss on your engine being more forward that on mine. They are in the same location. Your engine though has the castings that are found both on a TO-20 and TO-30. David,MI

John: Thanks for the reply and the pics. I think I figured it out. The TO-20, originally equipped with a generator, had the front generator support sandwiched between the front axle and the engine block. I measured their thickness and they are the same only with the bracket piece sandwiched between the axle and the block. The rear generator support went through a boss on the block (you're using this for your bracket). When the TO-30s came along the block castings changed, the boss was eliminated and two casting that were drilled and tapped to receive the generator support bracket bolts (more conventional set-up) replaced the boss. In lieu of the bracket support that had existed on the TO-20, a shim of the same thickness was used on the TO-30. Now for the most interesting part: the castings shown in your pictures suggest that your block was a transition block between the Z-120 and Z-129 engine. My TO-20 is a 1949 and does not have the two round castings that sit just above (directly above and to the left above) the boss. Also the boss on your engine is more forward than on mine. If you wished, you could drill and tap the two round castings and use a more conventional alternator mounting bracket. You helped me solve a little mystery. Thanks and sorry for the long-winded note.
