Hello all,
I need written instructions for the one-wire 12 volt conversion I've seen with Ferguson tractors. I've got a self-exciting alternator and I believe I have a small enough pulley to create the rpm's needed to charge the battery. I don't know exactly how to wire it up, though. There's a tractor show in Arden, NC this weekend but I'm out of town. Please help. ----Tim

We make original type wiring harnesses for farm tractors. We also make custom harnesses to fit alternator conversions. An alternate method for 12 volts, is to use a 12 volt generator. The original type harness can be used, and the tractor will still look original. If you use an alternator, it is best to use one rated at 35 amps maximum, if you are using the original wire sizes.

Tim: If you look to the left of this forum you'll find under Marketplace a heading "Suppliers". Go to Genesee Products. They have some helpful bulletins about 12-volt conversions that are quite detailed. Good luck, David,MI

I have a 52 to-30 with the 12 volt conversion, ac delco alt, but am not sure if the system is wired right because the batery wants to boil, something is not right. I would be interested in finding out what is wired wrong. If you find out anything please share. joe

Run a wire from the Batt. term on alt. to the + post of the battery. If it were mine I would go from the alt. to the ammeter to the starter post on the bellhousing, the side with the + cable from the battery. The other post goes to the starter and is only energized when you are starting the engine.
