Interested in knowing if anyone else owns or knows about an existing 1936 Ferguson tractor. This tractor was made and marketed only in England, as far as I know. I do know that one is on display at the Henry Ford Museum in Deaborn, Michigan. It is serial number 525. I want to give this tractor to the local community college agriculture department. (Crowder College, Neosho, Missouri) Would like to be able to arrive at an accurate appraisal value. Any input or advice would be appreciated.

I saw a Type A at the Camp Creek Threshers show in Waverly, Nebraska, a couple weeks ago. Don't know the year, serial number, or owner's name. The owner was big in Fergusons and had many tractors and pieces of equipment. It was said that there were only four known in North America, three in the U.S. and one in Canada. It was a David-Brown with the Ferguson lift. Not sure if it is the exact same version you have.

Country Heritage Park in Milton Ontario formerly the Ontario Agricultural Museum has a Ferguson Brown Tractor in the Massey Building . Don't Know what it would be worth as it was donated to them by Massey Ferguson when they closed down the Toronto Factory. I understand it and two other Fergusons used to be in the lobby of that building . They were donated to the museums collection .

James, What you have is a Ferguson Type A, commonly known as the Ferguson Brown. These tractors were built for Harry Ferguson by David Brown, of Meltham, Huddersfield, Yorkshire between 1936 and 1938, and over 1200 were produced. These tractors are very rare in the U.K. let alone the U.S., and I would guess that yours will be fairly unique in the States. I was looking at one last week in Scotland for which the owner wanted £10,000 to part with it. This is on the expensive side, but these tractors regularly make £6,000 to 8,000 at auction, in the U,K, particularly if in running order. I think your plan to give the tractor to your local agricultural college is an excellent one. There it will be appreciated by generations of students much more than if sold privately. Well done. If you need any further information just e-mail me. I hope this has helped.
Regards,
Pete.

Pete,

Thank you for your response and your appreciation for the idea of giving the tractor to our local college. The information I have gotten on Ferguson Brown prices is very valuable. I do need to find out from you if the following spares might be available from any source. My tractor does not have a tool box and is also in need of the top link and both lower arms for the three point hitch. Do you have any suggestions?

Jim
