I just purchased a MF35 perkins and shortly after trying it out, the lift started to be difficult and try to stay up after the position lever was lowered. Finally it stuck completely in the up position. The I&T Shop manual said this is caused by a broken control valve spring, which I did not believe it could be broken since it seemed to gradually get worse. My guess was something plugged the valve since it was at the bottom of the hydraulic sump where trask would accumulate. I found postings on cleaning out the sump with deisel, kerosine, or a product called Lubies Sump Cleaner. Lubies is sold direct from the manufacturer here in the Dallas (Desoto) area, but they have a minimum 4 gallon order. Since you mix it with water, 1 gallon is more than enough for this task. Their number is 877-428-9937, and they are located off of Hampton road south of I-20. Since I didn't want 4 gallons of cleaner to keep around the house, I opted for the diesel. A friend works at a industrial equipment shop and suggested removing most of the hydraulic oil, and then adding enough diesel to fill to an acceptable operating level for the pump.I removed the right side inspection cover(before draining fluid), started the engine, and worked the position selector. It would not move into the lowering position without my directly manipulating the internal lever thru the inspection hole. After working it back and forthe several times, it seemed to free up and work once again. I have now drained the sump and filled it partially with diesel to hopefully dissolve some of the crud in the bottom of the sump. Tonight I will run the tractor while I work the lift up and down to clean out the system with the diesel. I would like to try something that would dissolve the crud better, but I can't justify 4 gallons of Lubies at $14.85 each. Does anyone have an alternative to the lubies or Diesel that would dissolve the crud? Will the diesel actually dissolve it? My Auto Trans shift solenoid stuck a few months back, and it started working again after adding some of the Trans restore fluid from Autozone. Would this have been safe to add to a hydraulic system on my tractor?
