My TO-20 makes a constant clicking sound when running. It seems to be affected by the rpms. When I rev the tractor up the clicking noise seems to get faster. I think that it might be a valve smacking a rocker arm. The tractor also has a slight spit and sputter to it. I would like to get her running smooth. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

try shorting out the cylinders one at a time if it is a wrist pin the noise will double up when you short it out..... ..... jay

maybe a broken valve spring? IF you put an old short piece of garden hose or such against the valve cover then listen at the end of it you may isolate the sound better. regards

Daniel;

My TO-30 is doing the same thing. Sounds like a valve is not adjusted right. Have checked valve clearence several times and have had good help in doing so. Not sure what it could be. Anybody have and ideas.

Thanks
