Just make sure that your tractor is serviced and that it starts readily and you shouldn't have any problems as Gerald has said. I have never seen a 12v starter that will interchange with that one, what some of the guys have done is have the old starter rewound to 12v at an auto electrical shop. The 6v starter when on 12v will spin the engine rather faster than when it is on 6v, so it is just a matter of touching the starter and it will go BUT everything must be set correctly i.e. plugs points and Carb. Don't forget to move the ground lead from the back of the dash to one of the bolts in the area of the starter, this alone will make it start better and make sure that the wires to the coil from the ignition switch is on the correct terminal otherwise you wont get a good spark.....John

PS Just bee checking a few things and I don't know for sure but perhaps the starter from the 12v TO35 will fit as the 6v is the same fitting. I don't have the Delco reference number though.

Usually 6 volt starters run fine on 12 volts, often better than a similar sized 12 volt starter, but they can be killed by cranking too long.
