Gents,

I don't know if any of you collect smaller versions of our beloved tractors, but I came across one on ebay that seems very nice. It is way out of the range of what I would pay. The listing says the reserve is $866.68 I'm curious to see if the reserve is met. If it is I'll definitely pay closer attetion to the toy tractors tha sell at live auctions.

Boss Hog,
that was what I figured but if you look at the picture showing the steering wheel center it says LEGO. It appears to be the same font as the building block lego's.

I doubt that tractor had anything to do with Lego toys. The guy probably put that in so people searcing on the word "lego" would see his listnig.

If you look at the pictures it has the LEGO stamp.

From the LEGO website's company history section

Selected Product News 1951 The building base with 10 x 20 studs The plastic tractor (Ferguson)

Other history
The Lego Group had a very humble beginning in the workshop of Ole Kirk Christiansen, a carpenter from Billund, Denmark. Christiansen began creating wooden toys in 1932; the company began calling itself "Lego" two years later in 1934. The company expanded to producing plastic toys in 1940. In 1949, Lego began producing the now-famous interlocking bricks, calling them "Automatic Binding Bricks".

The company name Lego was coined by Christiansen from the Danish phrase leg godt, which means "play well".

I found it interesting... The little plastic bricks is all I knew they made.

Jeff

John, thanks for the link. I guess I am living in the dark ages as I never knew Lego had things like this. I thought they just had the building blocks that snap together. Oh well, when our son was growing up he wouldn't play with toy tractors or such, wouldn't play out side as he would get his hands dirty. However give him a tablet of paper, pens, pencils, crayons, magic markers, etc. and he would be content from breakfast till bed time and didn't let the TV bother him either. It would have been easier on us if we knew what he wanted to play with. It probably only took about 2 years to learn he just wanted a tablet of paper. LOL Richard
