Hello all. I have searched the archives and found a way to wire the delco useing all three wires so you dont, have to rev the engine so high to get it to charge. This was posted by BOB if anyone knows where I can get the diodes to put in the wire could you let me know where to get them. I have made due with a push button starter button but I have to remember to hit it every time I start the engine. the way I understand it the diode only lets the current go one way. Thanks for your help. Robert

Hi Robert,

Someone posted a wiring diagram here showing that either a diode or a dash panel light could be used to excite the alternator. I chose the panel light option. When I start the engine, the red light glows until the RPMs climb just a bit, then the light goes out and stays out. When I turn the ignition off, the light flickers as the RPMs fall just as the engine dies.

I wired mine through the ignition switch. I didn"t use a diode.

Got mine from Radio Shack. Any 1 AMP / 50 Volt Diode will work. Package of 2 was less than $1
A Diode is directional so it will only work in one direction

Someone posted a picture of an Alternator with a diode in the circuit and the part number was IN5408, I think that it came from NAPA, but I can't swear to that....John
