I am attempting to change the lift arms on a TO 35. When I tried to remove the nut holding the right arm to the bottom of the axle, the bolt started out instead of the nut turning on the bolt. Then the bolt stopped coming out and just spins. Some oil dripped out so I am assuming that it is 90 weight and if I get the bolt out 90 weight is going to come pooring out. If I don't fix it, I assume that all the 90 weight will slowly drip out. The bolt also appears to be slightly bent. Any ideas on how to properly fix this at a reasonable cost?

Hello,

The proper and only thing you can do is to empty the transmission / centerhousing for oil, remove the axle trumpet at tighten the nut on the inside. If the bolt is bent, you better buy a new one. It is wise to use a light duty loctite on the bolt when you torque the nut. If you take off the left side trumpet housing, you will be able to take off the differential too, better for cleaning up the rear end while you have it open, and you can tighten the nut for the bolt on the other side too.
The bolts are not a major cost, and removing the left trumpet is not a terrible thing either. Get a new gasket please. :-) Good luck.

Bill
