Can I replace one sleeve

Hi everyone, I found that my #3 clinder chunked a small piece out of the bottom and I am going to replace the cylinder and piston with a kit found on the parts site here. The new piston is oversized and I was wondering if I need to be worried about one oversized piston working with the other 3. The engine was rebuilt 2 years ago and the other cylinders have good compression.

Thanks

Thanks Jim in OH. I was thinking along the same lines that it would have been very common to fix the problem rather than overhaul the whole engine. I will check the weight of the piston assemblies and get the new one balanced to the one comming out.

Thanks

...while not the ideal, having one cylinder that is slightly larger will not be any more noticeable than having a compression difference of 10 psi.. hardly worth worrying about... more importantly, you should make sure that weight of the new moving components are equal to those that you take out.. this will keep the balance... Incidentally, it was common practice in the 50s to bore cylinders only as much as necessary, so there were many mis-matched cylinders in engines out there... Jim in OH

One oversized piston will make the engine run rough. You will not be happy at all...

does anyone have a standard sleeve that has not been rebored that they can part with? I would like to keep a smooth running machine and the other 3 cylinders are original with standard sized rings.
