Did this ever happen to you?
I went to the woods wed morning to plow out my drive, it was about minus five which is not to bad here in N Central wi. My 40 sits in an open shed and has never failed to start at much colder temps than minus five but it refused that morning. All I got was a few feeble pops. What now I thought? Check for gas, that's ok. The outside of the tractor was all frosty, maybe the distributer was frosty too. Pulled the cap off, looked ok,pried the points open to check for spark, ok.Whats this? There is alittle teat sticking out from one of the points. Now I've seen this before on burned points but in probing around I discovered it was grease. Now I know that you are not supposed to over grease your dist.and I didn't think I did when I last changed the ponts. Why was it running find the last time I used it and the grease leaped from the shaft to the ponts while the tractor was just sitting there? Ever so often we need to be reminded that most problems are simple

were you able to clean points and get tractor started?

Hate to know I had to start my 1957 TO-35 at -5 degrees. Does not get that cold here in western KY that often.
