Brake actuator pivot?

My brother and I are in the process of restoring a to-20. The left side brake is missing the actuator rod, pivot, and other piece that the rod connects to (name?). The pedal is there and is currently connected directly to the shaft that turns the brake cam. I was wondering if the right and left hand brake pivot assemblies are identical, or is there a left and right side? My gut feeling is that there is a left and right side, I have found both to be available though. Secondly, to assembly the pivot back on the brake "cam" shaft is it as simple as removing the drums, shoes, and backing plate and sliding it all together? Thanks

Thanks for the help all, The case, crawler, and TO30 are all in upstate new york at our farm, along with the manual for the to30 that is why I asked here. We are doing the resto of the to20 here in NJ then will be swapping the two fergies. Also, can I just make gaskets for the shifter cover and side covers? Or are they special and need to be ordered? Thanks again.

you can make them just fine using gasket material, of a thin piece of single ply cardboard for that matter,, I wouldnt put any goop on it though, put it on dry,

There is a left and right. Parts can be found on EBay. Assembly is to remove the drums and brake springs, spread the shoes, twist and slide the rod out. attach needed parts and reassemble in reverse order of disassembly. Is this a partial or total restore? Total disassembly and repaint or not?

I don't know what you mean by partial or full resto, but Im going to guess only partial. This is the first time we are doing a resto also, and I personally am only 23yrs old. We also have a to-30 for brushhogging, a case DC3, and an IH T-6 dozer. The to20 was in a bad flood and had water in the oil pan and trans. So far we have taken off gas tank, radiator, fenders, 3pt arms, wheels, hodd, and other external pieces. We do not plan on spliting if we dont have to either. Right now we want to get it running and check all vital parts like brakes/trans/wheel bearings, etc. Then strip and repaint the main tractor then all other pieces taken off. Thanks for the help on the brakes..doesnt seem too difficult either!!

Mike, Your TO-20 brake configuration is identical to your TO-30 brake configuration. Assuming your TO-30 is complete, that is agood guide for your TO-20. The only difference between the two models are different axle seal cofiguration. If you don't already have a Ferguson re-print service manual, I highly recommend them, they are very thorough and can be purchased off this site, and other places for ~$30 or so, the TO20 & 30 are covered by the same manual.
With your TO being flooded, you may likely have trouble with your clutch being rusted-up/siezed. So keep an eye out for that.
Assuming you have already drained your tranny oil, pull the circular side inspection plate where the dip stick goes in, and wash your tranny out real good with kerosene or diesel fuel, using a garden sprayer you can get the tranny gears real good by pulling off your gear shifter cover too. The shifter just sits over the shift rails, real easy to pull off and drop back -on, no problems lining things-up etc. If you do that, you tranny should probably be okay and not need to tear into it any further... unless you want to.
