Hello, I have had my F40 for about six months, and just noticed today that it is positive ground. I am correct in saying that f40's are normally negative ground correct? Why would someone have switched it? I have never had anything positive ground is there anything I need to know charging, adding lights etc?

Why do you assume that someone has changed it?
English Tractors[some] e.g. Fordson are positive to earth from the factory.

My F-40 is 12 volts negative ground. Is yours 12 volts? If so, you can switch the ground to negative. You would have to change the small (primary) coil wire going to the distributor. That wire should leave from the negative side of the coil, if the tractor is negative ground, and vice versa if positive ground. Also, if your ammeter is working properly now, you will need to switch the ammeter wires so it shows a proper charge (assuming it is charging). Of course you will also need to switch the battery cables, but I'm sure you knew that. The tractor will run as positive ground even though it is 12 volts, but it would be better to switch it, in my opinion, just to eliminate confusion in the future. Now, if it is 6 volts for some reason, ignore what I said, as positive ground is correct for 6 volts on these tractors (although they will run as negative ground when 6 volts if everything is hooked up correctly).
