FENA (Ferguson Enthusiasts of North America) has created a listing by serial number of F-40s, that help with your question. You can go to the FENA website, and another source is Paul(AZ) often on this forum. Paul is the editor of the FENA newsletter and has an F-40 which he has restored. By the way, I have one, a 57 model, and I'm near Appomattox, VA., not so far from you. I carried mine to a local show year before last, and most of the comments I heard were that people had never seen one. At some shows, however, like in Florida or Iowa, you will see several.

according to my information they were made in 1956 and 1957. 1956=serial #'s 400001-405670, 1957=
405671-409097. So that is a total of only 9097 made.

Where do you think the majority of the model 40 were sold?

The F-40 was popular in Kentucky. I have 3. I'm just getting started restoring one that dad bought new in 1956. I traded for the other 2, which are total basket cases. I'm using the best parts from all 3 to build one good tractor. May try to build a second out of the remaining parts.

There's a bunch of Massey Harris 50's around here too. MF50's and 150's sold well here. I bought a 150 new in '71. (still have it)

I would have no idea. I just got re-interested in Fergies within the last 3 months. Maybe some of the other people that are on this forum would know. Sorry
