Fellows: I am replacing the power steering hoses on my 57 TO-35. Unfortunately I took both hoses off at once and did not mark the fittings for re-installation. My manual identifies the lower hose on the pump as the high pressure and the upper as return but I can find no indication as to which fittings they go to on the steering column. I thought about just hooking them up and changing them if it didn't work but thought better of it as I don't want to blow a seal or something worse. Could someone with a similar tractor take a look and tell me if the high pressure fitting is the one closest to the engine or the drivers seat.

Hi Archie,

Do you still need info on this?

If so, let me know and I'll have a look at my '57.
Roger

Can you tell by the lengths of the hoses? If the hoses are rated for differnt pressures, the higher pressure hose should be stiffer and possibly a little smaller inside diameter. It's also posible both hoses are the same. Try bending the hoses in a tight loop. If one wants to kink it's not a higher pressure hose. Hope this helps. Dave

I had the hoses made up at napa, they are the same length and pressure rating. The problem I am having is figuring out which fitting on the steering column is the hi pressure and which is the return

Sounds like something I would do.... ummmm..... have done.... Friends laugh at me because before I disassemble anything I take photos if whatever I'm working on with my digital camera. I can always go back and look at the photo on my computer, zoom in or out or even print the photo to take out to the garage with me.

Wish I could help but mine is a TE-20 and has no power anything...

Pete,

"49" TE-20
