The above is what happens when your control shaft roller freezes on its pin...

As I'm still doing the carport "resto" of the TO-35, I had to remove the hydraulic cover to get the control quadrant out to clean it up...plus there is really no decent way to paint the top of the axle with it in place.

Anyway, my breather was totally, completely plugged. As a result, all of the controls in the cover had a lot of surface rust from condensation.

So, take out those breathers and make sure they're not plugged! It's the little chrome deal on the left side of the top cover on a TO-35. Not sure where it is on an earlier machine.
