Mine works fine, just have three minor questions, if anyone has any answers:

1) What is the material under the band that covers the brushes? Looks like cardboard gasket material to me, mine feel to pieces.

2) I assume the two oilers need a few drops of engine oil?

3) Were these originally black or engine color? It's puzzling to me that the Delco distributor was painted black but the generator was chassis color. My original TO-35 brochure shows it painted black, which is what I'm going to do as well, I guess.

You can use standard paper gasket material that you buy in rolls or sheets, just cut to width & length. The generator was painted chassis color.

1.Should be gasket material to keep most of the farming dust out.

2. A few drops every 50 hours.

3. Depends on the order of assembly and painting. If the generator was mounted before painting, it got the chassis color, if mounted later it stayed with the Delco factory black. Same for all the other accessories. I'm sure the Massey factory didn't mount them and mask them off while painting the chassis.
