Trying to hook up a John Deere 5ft Bush hog to my TO35 diesel. My PTO shaft is 6 splines but the JD looks like a triangle shape. I have looked around the internet for adapters buy have only seen 6 to 21.

Any help on this?

I agree that the PTO shaft is half missing. Goto a farm supply store and get a new PTO drive shaft. Or if you can go to the previous owner, perhaps the other half is still around.

Tony, As noted it sounds like you only have 1/2 of the PTO drive shaft in your possession. They sell the drive shafts at TSC, not sure on whether you can buy 1 section or not. Good luck. John

Sounds like you are missing the coupler that goes onto the pto stub. Your shaft from the mower should be in two pieces, one sliding inside the other (often triangle shape or square shaft). The piece closest to the tractor should have a universal knuckle and a female splined adapter to fit over the stub. It should also have spring loaded cross-shaft that locks into the groove cut about halfway from the end of the stub.
