I am looking to buy a massey 65 but the guy told me over the phone that it runs but the hydrulics don"t work. He said in the winter they went to raise the lift and the plate under the seat cracked and the lift stoped working. What will it take to fix and where could I get the parts. Thanks for any advise.

It sounds like the Top Cover has cracked because the Safety Valve has stuck and there has been too much pressure, it happen to me once when the 35 first was introduced. You need a new top Cover or possibly a complete unit from another tractor but it needs all resetting before you fit it. If you need the info on what to do to fix all this email me and I will send it out to you..John
Parts are easy enough to get and you could try a wreckers yard as well

Hi,

My MF 65 cover is welded, just for the same reason. Got a new pump from the MF dealer back in 1978 I think, a Mark 2 pump instead of the Mark 1 pump, and we asked if the pump came complete, ready to be put in, yes, there was nothing to do was the answer. We put it on, and there was a steel plug instead of the relief valve, so of course the cover cracked. The dealer was unhappy about it, and had it welded for us. The pressure is now reduced some, so it does not lift so much, but the cover holds up very nicely.

Bill

MF 65's sell regularly. How much is he asking for this MF65. I would suspect a deep discount for the damages you describe.

If you can get for $650 then you should be okay. At that price you could part it out and get your money back if the repairs are worse than you suspect.

Great tractor. I like mine alot.
