Posted a message back in late June abuot a "banging noise". Well finally got the tractor home (1951-TO30) and pulled the oil pan and guess what? The crankshaft was busted between the 2nd and 3rd piston. I am a decent mechanic - how hard is it to replace the crankshaft? And what else should I replace while I am at it? I plan on keeping it for a long while still. other than the busted crank, no other engine trouble - ie. does not smoke, etc. Are the rebuild vidoes a good reference material for this job? THX

I had the same problem with my 51 to30.It seemed to break for no apparent reason as the tractor was under no strain what so ever. I decided to have my engine rebuilt while I had it disassembled that far. I am waiting to hear from my mechanic any day now hoping it is finished. Good Luck

You can get new crankshafts for these engines again from this site or from a Sparex dealer, bearings and seals are also available too. Why not fit a set of rings while you are doing all this and maybe regrind the valves too. Check the Clutch is ok and the bearings. The manuals do explain everything but the video will show you how they did it, you need to decide how good you are at following the manual or would you find the video easier, depends on how skillful you are.John
