Well I must be getting old because I"m thinking about restoring an old 1959 Ferguson or Ford "the year I was born". I would like one that is about 30 hp, power steering, live PTO and which I can put a loader on; I would even be willing to fabricate 4x4 onto it. If anyone knows what models were produced in 59 please let me know. Thanks, Paul

Thanks guys :)
I have a 1953 TO-30 now that my dad completly rebuilt in 64 or 65, I was like 5 and became his gofer, go for this, go for that. Anyway it's mine now and I love the old tractor but I would like to rebuild a 59 in the next year or two. My boy Max will be 5 and maybe I can make it great for him! We will see.
Thanks again for all the info.

You mention Ford. I always thought that the 901 Ford was especially "pretty". The 1959 model had a red grille and center of the hood. I would avoid a diesel or a Selectospeed transmission. I guess I was imprinted with one, because my dad tried one out and I made a 4-H presentation about the planetary transmission.

You may also want to look at the MF-65 or MF-50. These are slightly bigger than the 30 HP, (MF-65 is 40 HP) Both were made in '59.

Depending on where you are in the world, the "small" tractors from Ferguson at that time were the FE35 (UK) and the TO35 (USA) both these are virtually the same apart from the engines, they were renamed in 1958 as MF35. The FE35 was also sold in the USA and the rest of the world, the TO35 was only sold in the USA (officially) Both these versions would accept a loader but power steering was a must for that work as was the Live-drive clutch. There are a few 4wd versions around but not many.

Sounds like you may want to look for a TO-35 Deluxe. PS, 2 stage clutch, about that hp. I have a 1960 and love it, great little tractor!
