We're done - it runs! We ended up buying a replacement carb from old20.com, it's not an original Zenith, but some replacement one that fits, and it started up!

I remade some of the connections, and stripped the starter, and now we can get it started (just) on the 6v battery - I'm not convinced that it's completely right, but I've fixed as any of the connections as I can.

The other thing that I'm struggling with is the generator - it's wired up correctly (I think!) but it doesn't appear to be charging - it's pretty odd, the light pulses on and off when it's running, anyone any experience with that?

But other than that, everything's looking pretty hunky dory - thanks to everyone on the board for all your help - including those who sent personal emails - much appreciated and hope I can help some others going forward!

Interesting - was a new control box, but then again, we've put 12v through it before trying to get it to run, so mebbe we've done it in.

Will have a look whatever you send though John - thanks for your continued help!!!

Matt

Matt, If the light pulses as you say it seems to be the Control Box/regulator that requires adjusting or maybe replace the box. I will send the information about this on your email address...John
