This is a pic of my P3 conversion TEA62949. If you want any further info on it, it is posted under comments on the picture.
I have owned this tractor just shy of 8 years and bought for the princely sum of £335. Since the initial restoration, it has not been touched up or needed any major repair work done to it. I have added a pick up hitch and swapped the scallop rear wheels for solid centres.
I suppose I should be expecting some major thing to go wrong with it sooner or later. I'm not at all mechanically minded and so would welcome some guidance. Recently the brakes have become less effective and I'm having to really come down hard on them to stop the tractor (Admittedly it perhaps should not have so much weight behind it, but it used to cope adequately with that before ... by the way it is not out on public roads pulling those trailers!)
I have tried adjusting them with the square key, but this is having no effect. I have noticed a trace of oil on the housing which contains the square adjuster key (I did warn you I was not mechanically minded, so apologise for the vagueness in description!) I wonder is it possible that a seal may have gone and oil has contaminated the brake shoes ?
If I had a diagram or instruction of what to look for and where, I would be fine.
I wanted to suggest that when the Farm tractors were serviced, they did the Fergy at the same time, but the lads suggest we should attempt it ourselves. I thought before we started dismantling I would ask if anyone might have any suggestions, please.
