Last fall I experimented with electrolysis with fair to poor results. I could never get more than about 3-4 amps and results were painfully slow. Tonight I drug out the equipment and started over this time adding a battery in paralell between the charger and the tank and I'm off and running with 8 amps and boiling like crazy!

General rust removal. I'm cleaning a fan shroud for my 8n now. Once I get the system to work I have a number of parts like an original Tarus rear light, original Ford work light, original Ford 9n tool box etc which all are great candidates for electrolysis. I have 2 Fords in addition to my TO 35 and I'm always on the hunt to upgrade parts especially for my 43 2n.

I have a sand blaster and sand blast cabinet also but I like the fact I can set up the part, turn it on and go do something else.

Ok. I did a lot of rust removal that way last year. A 50 gallon barrel, but I have very little current. No boiling, and the result gets very good. In fact I am amazed of how well it works, but it takes time. The time I allow it to take gives the process a chance to redo some of the rust back to iron before the rest of the rust gets loose. And then I use the pressure washer to remove all the rust, dirt, paint and whatever.

I think the ideal current is about 13 milliamps per square inch. I use only a battery charger to get it done. But I admit, it is a large charger, 40 amp I think.

Good luck.

The block is at the machine shop now. Its getting lightly decked and they are pinning the main caps and oil pump (part of the front cap) and then line boring. They tell me the old blocks aren't acurate (too much slop in the bolt holes) I'm understanding on the theory but think its a little overkill as how many of these are running without pinning the caps? Im also haveing the valve seats cut/ground/replaced as necessary.
I guess I'm relying on thier 30 years of race motor experience, I'll probably not be disapointed in the results but grumpy with the bill.
