Look at: www.tractortips.com/ There is a lookup page that needs the serial no. to view the info. you need. Fergs. serial no. is above the steering wheel for TO 20&30 models.

I suspect that he does have a Ford, the tag on the grill will possibly be one of the two that should be there. Top should have said Ford, other would have said Ferguson System. If it is indeed 1940 it would have been a 9n, for 1939.

Thanks for the info. The reason I ask is that
I'm trying to help him locate a gas tank for
it. Does anyone know where I might look? He
said this tank is diffent because it has a baffle
in the bottom of it and he cannot get the rust
and junk out of it.

Thanks

Look in to fuel tank sloshing fluid. It even fixes leaks in tanks. The compound that I have used several times is made for the aircraft industry, and has worked quite well. I use it on exotic vintage cars where avail. on fuel tanks is nill. You simply remove the tank, clean as good as possible and cap all of the openings after pouring some in the tank. Then simply roll the tank around so the compound coats all areas of the tank. Let dry a day, install and refuel. Will never have a problem from rust again.
Reguards,
Dave

Dave, I have the same problem with loose rust which I can't get to because of the baffles. Do you have any suggestions for getting the loose rust out before using the sealing product? And what exactly is the product you were referring to. Sounds good to me. Thanks, Mac

You coat over anything that dosnt come out with a garden hose. Multiple coats are the answer. First coat "Glues" all loose particles down, and the next couple of coats seal and cover. Source for the product that I can vouge for is Aircraft Spruce Co. I always get the product that is alcohol rated as most pump gas contains a good bit of alcohol today. I have the catolog at work and can get the #s if you dont locate them in a web search. About $30 a gallon and will do the tractor tank with much left over.
Good luck,
Dave
