Can it easily be done? Anybody do it? I have a blown to-30 engine but have a complete 8n engine. I was wondering if it will drop in

I don't know if you can adapt the 8N engine to your TO-30 but I agree I agree with John. If it were me, I'd sell that Ford flat head or part it out and overhaul your Continental(~$500 for parts, ~$500 for machine shop work) or look for a remanufactured short block(assuming your cylinder head is OK). A short block is about $1500 exchange. Put the money you get for the Ford toward the Continental overhead valve engine.
Your money, your choice.

A decent 8n block usually brings around 300+ on ebay, crank 50, cam 35, head 50, rods 50, etc etc. I would think you can generate enough $$ to offset the Conti overhaul or at least get close. I've watched a couple complete running motors list on ebay but don't seem to sell very easy.

Sunny 4

It would be an interesting project. But I dont think you will like the Ford flathead as well as the ohv Continental.

It might, but I tried an 860 Ford into a TEA20, and I dropped the idea real fast. Can't remember why, but I think the flywheel and starter were issues. I'm not done with my project, but it looks like a small Perkins diesel can be adapted, but front support must be made up with some structures that don't stress the thin engine block casting too much.
