Hello, I saw that John (TR) had tire chains that looked like they would stay on very nicely. Are there any specific brands to consider? Any input?

Hello to Everyone here.
Thanks in advance, Sincerely John Mason, Michigan

Hi, look at the link below, these folks export chains to the US.

Or, look at this link, and look at the Super and Grader. I use the grader myself, and it is a perfect chain, and you can drive in the speed you want on snow and neither the tractor nor you will be shaken. It is why they call it a full-floating tractor chain.

All the best, Bill

An easy and possibly cheaper alternative is to find a set of two rail chains from a dual wheel straight truck. the chains are designed to fit over both of the dual tires at once... they fit pretty well and provide decent traction to boot.

I have the duo grip type and the tractor will go anywhere. Running on hard pavement will just about knock your teeth out in anything higher than first gear.

Back in the late 70's a friend and I did landscaping and snow removal on the side and the 9n I drove had normal chains on it. The owner had the new 1ton Chevy. It didn't have the traction but "roaded" well. This by the way is where I was bit by the N bug, I did not grow up on a farm.

John, I am no farmer either. I have a 1947 2N. It is for sale though. Great worker. The TO35 gives me a few improvements and 2 tractors is not practical. Thanks for the chain input.

John, I've seen the link for these guys posted over on the N board several times. Seems like a one-shop-stop for chains. The Duo-grip types seem popular because they don't fall in between the tire lugs, where they don't do as much good.. TSC sells tractor chains also, if they don't have them on the shelf, they can order them for you. Definitely want to shop around 'cus chains ain't cheap & it's easy for retailers to mark'em up, especially this time of year.

Snow? It's to darn cold for snow, hovering around zero with -14 wind chill. ICE is the problem! Need to improve the traction.
