Hey guys.. since i had so much junk and sediment on my TE20 tank i flushed it all out and poured some of that Red-Kote in there.. followed the instructions but its still not dry a week later. Directions say you can not put gas in until completely dry or you're screwed. So ive got it next to my stove and was running a hair dryer in there earlier. They say theres a solvent that instantly dries it? Methyl Ethlyl Ketone?? Or something? But sears and the auto parts places didnt have it..

Any thoughts? I'm also adding a sediment bowl from a TO35 that screws right into the drain.. i guess i just hook it up to my existing line and go from there..

Thanks

Sideways: Methal Ethel Ketone should be available at your local paint store. It is a solvent that is used in plastic manufacturing as a cleanup agent. Look where they have lacquer thinner. Should be readily available. LOL Glenn

How did the coating work out? If you still need the ethel ketone try your local Ace Harware.

The coating works fine.. its just not dry. I purposely only used 1/2 the can so i wouldnt overdo it.. but i must have been wrong. Its like a little thicker than gear oil.. like red glue. You have to lean the tank all over to slowly spread it in the baffles and along the bottom. Then seal up the drain hole so the threads dont get clogged. I pulled the plug i had in it and it ran out for a few hours (slowly like snot) but hopefully it will be dry after sitting near the stove for a week.

Yes did that in the summer and on two tractors !
Not really proud of the outcome...slow to dry and then I didnt have the top of the tank clean enough so still had crap in the bowl for first few tanks of gas !
wish I would have taken to radiator shop to have cleaned to begin with...but is slow slow to cure !
