Hi Guys, I am restoring a 1952 te f20. Simple question: Do I need a control box?
There was not one on the tractor when I bought it and it did run. I keep getting different recommendations i.e. yes I do need one / no, I don't need one if I am starting it from the stick!!!!I want to start it from the stick. Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi John, Got in contact with a mechanic, who basically siad that if there is an alternator I don't need a control box. There is an alternator on the tractor so that explains why there is no control box. As far as the wiring goes I guess it was pulled apart to make the tractor work over the years at different parts broke!!.

Thanks for your reply John. Hope you all have a safe and peaceful Christmas

Eoin.

The Control Box is part of the charging circuit when the tractor is fitted with a Dynamo/Generator, if it has an alternator it wont need a Control Box as that is part of the alternator. If the battery or batteries were fully charged it would start and it wouldn"t need the charging circuit for a while.as diesels don"t need any electrics to run. If there was no control box, where were the wires for it. If it is fitted with a Dynamo yes you do need a Control Box to regulate the battery charging.
