I got the TE running finally. Though it does stumble on its own it definetely needs a carb overhaul from sitting. Do i order a complete kit? I see that they say TO and TE carbs are the same. So i can just use whatever kit i find?

I'm going to replace my manifold which is rusted to heck.. so i need to find one of those.. and do i need some kind of exhaust elbow too? I see vertical exhaust setups that are sold for TO/TE20 and 30's but i dont know if they require extra fab to make them work.. or if i also need that elbow to use them.

Thanks for the help!

Sparex do a manifold kit for your engine, it includes the gaskets and the adaptor for a flange mounted exhaust, part # S60036.The exhaust elbow is S43369 you will also need an exhaust silencer and a suitable clamp. The complete carburettor kit is available as S66984. The parts may also be available from this site. You can obtain Sparex parts from your local tractor dealer or email sparex(at)sparexusa.com and ask for the nearest dealer to you.

If you have to get rid of gum & varnish.Simply clean it with some spray cleaner like Berrymans B-12 or whatever is available. The most you will need is carb gaskets.Quite often you can rejuvenate them with soaking in warm water as that makes them swell back to where they were.Be careful when you take apart.Use a pen knife to get the old gaskets to come loose if they are sticking.CENTAUR

According to the Ferguson Parts Manual, the TE-20 and the T0-20 use the same carbs. Before you go through the carb, make sure that you have a good spark, a fat, bluish spark. If it's not fat and bluish(not blue bluishwhite like lightening) find out why. A lot of poor running attributed to the carb is really due to the ignition system especially if it's a 6 Volt system. If you do have a fat bluish spark And the timing and advance are working properly THEN go on to the fuel system. (DON'T ASSUME ANYTHING IS OK. CHECK IT AND RECORD THE RESULTS. If you don't know how to check, ask on this forum.)
Make sure that you have a good fuel delivery. (open the big plug at the bottom of the carb and with the fuel tank valve open and holding a container under tha carb , remove the plug and the fuel should continuously flow out like a cow peein' on flat rock.) If it doesn't find out why. if it Ok then comsider the removing the carb, soaking it in real carburetor cleaner and rebuilding.

Regarding the exhaust, I believe there are verticle exhaust kits that bolt on to the existing manifold. Just because your's is rusty doesn't mean it needs replacement. they all get rusty on the outside from non use. you can paint them with hightemp paint if it offends you. Has it got holes or cracks in it? That would be the only reason to replace it.
