Do I have a TO20 or TO30?

I recently just purchased a Ferguson. As far as I can tell it has never been altered or would have no reason to think it has. It has a Ferguson 30 hood. The serial number is TO-1421. As far as I can tell that would make it an early TO-20. Can anyone tell me what I have or what other characteristics that differentiate the two tractors from each other? Any help would be great. And by the way the oil filter is on the bottom of the tractor and is a real bugger to change!

The oil filter on the TO-30 and TO-20 are in the same location. The Hoods are also similar. Thus, I am not sure why you say you have a TO-30 hood. Either way hoods and side emblems are interchangeable.

The Serial number is that of a TO-20. Another way to check is to look at the side of the engine. There is a cast number in the left side of the engine. If Z120 then you have a TO-20 engine and if Z-129 then you have a TO-30 engine.

Jeff, the location of the oil filter on the TO-20 isb different from the TO-30. The TO-30 has an externally mounted filter on the right side of the engine and the TO-20 has an internally mounted filter in the oil pan.

With your oil filter being located as you describe, it is very likely that your "Fergie" is a TO20.
