Hi
Can anybody tell me the difference between a standard ferguson 35 and a goldbelly? And does anyone know how to tell if a 35 is a genuine goldbelly or not?

John

From 1956 until part way through 1957 all FE35's were Grey and Bronze. The difference between a Standard tractor and a Live-drive tractor is the clutch, the live-drive has a two plate clutch that operates independently so you can stop the wheels but keep the PTO running. If you press the clutch pedal on a live-drive tractor you will feel two distinct "stages" in the pedal movement, the first part controls the wheels and the second part is harder to press and that controls the PTO. So all these tractors were "gold bellies" The only way to check if it hasn't been re-painted is check the serial number, the last Grey and Bronze was serial number 74656, but you should be able to tell if it was repainted by looking closely at the joins in the metal work.
