After 8 hours in the pasture yesterday I noticed a little valve clatter when I brought it back to the barn. Thia morning I decided to check valve clearances. I found one intake way loose @20 thoasand or so and another lashed down beyond zero . The rest were also off but not as much. I set them all to spec and buttoned up the top end again. What an improvement in the idle this one adjustment made, and well worth the hour or so that it took. Also, the two end plugs on the rocker arm shaft were loose with one hanging by a thread. Tightened them back up as well. However, I found what I think is the fuel tank baffle rattling around in the tank. WIll this hurt anything over time, since the insides of the tank are clean as can be otherwise?

I also have a TO-30 ('54 model) with a broken tank baffle rattling around in the tank. It has been this way for the 10 years I have owned the tractor and has caused no problems other than being annoying. It is a weak design from what I can see and I have thought about cutting a slot in the tank to remove it and then welding the tank back up. By I have only thought about it. I don't intend to do anything.
