I am a Ford tractor collector but I ran across a F40 from a guy I work with. He thought it was a TO35. The sheet metal is excellent and brand new set of tires all the way around. He cut me a deal I could not refuse. I do not know much about Ferguson tractors. Is this considered to be a highly collectable tractor?? Any answer would be appreciated. Todd Bailey

As Jim says, there weren"t many made. You rarely seem them at most shows, unless Fergusons are featured. I have a nice one, not restored, but still nice. It is the heaviest and strongest of the Fergusons prior to 1960 or so. Same basic tractor as the Massey Harris 50 and Massey Ferguson 50, just different sheet metal. Mine is a wide front and is not for sale, but I would value it at around $3800-4000. It has new tires all around, same as what you bought, so that may give you some idea. They have the two stage clutch, which is nice, but expensive if it has to be replaced. Mine will pick up a full size round bale, and I suspect most of the 35"s won"t do that, at least not without the front end coming up, although they have the same Z134 motor.

Collectable? Depends on your point of view... From mine, it is the most collectable of all Fergusons. There were less than 10,000 made in two years. Probably row-crop tricycles and hi-crops were the rarest. There aren't many people looking for them though, so the price is not much more than a TO-35. I saw a really nice one go for $3600 several months ago... A link below has some more info... JIm
