Can someone tell me the diff between a T0 20 and the Fords (N series)? I'm pretty famliar with the Fords (have a 2n and 8n) and I knw the Fergusons have the Continental OHV motor, is it like 30hp? How about the tranny, how many gears? and does the hydraulics have position control (8n) or just draft control (2/9N)?
Been looking for something for myself with a little more HP than the Fords and thought maybe a Fergy would be an option like the NAA or hundred series Ford. I have a hill that I mow and a few more ponies would be good. I've high centered the hog before and stalled the Ns and had to get pulled out to take the bind out of the drive line to get back to neutral
Any thoughts would be apreciated
Thanks

Someone may want to check me on this but:
...Continental OHV motor, is it like 30hp?
TO-20, 120 cuin, ~25 Hp plus or minus
TO-30, 129 cuin, ~29 Hp plus or minus
TO-35, 134 cuin, ~31 Hp plus or minus
How about the tranny, how many gears?
TO-20, 4 forward, 1 reverse
TO-30, 4 forward, 1 reverse
TO-35, 6 forward, 2 reverse (hi/lo range of 3+1)
and does the hydraulics have position control (8n) or just draft control (2/9N)?
TO-20 No Position control, Draft control only
TO-30 No Position control, Draft control only
TO-35 Position control and Draft control, live PTO/hydraulics
Been looking for something for myself with a little more HP than the Fords and thought maybe a Fergy would be an option like the NAA or hundred series Ford.
My Ferguson recommendation would be the TO-35 (and similar), although position control can be added to 20s and 30s (and 2/9Ns) with add on devices. There were two engines in the later hundreds series Fords; one was 134 cuin and the other was 172 cuin. TO-35 Fergusons compare with the 134 engine. Very similar spec'd tractors were made as TO-35, F-40, MF-35, MF-135, etc.

Thanks for the great response. I'm familiar with the Fords but not the Fergys but see a number of them around. Think I'll keep my eyes peeled for a TO 35/deluxe, NAA, or hundred series tractor. Sounds like the 20/30 are pretty comparible to what I have now.
Thanks again
