Did the fluid change today for the first time on my TO-30. Egads. What came out was about as yellow as Toffee and about as thick as spring water but resembled no oil I have ever seen. After cleaning out as much as I could get too I refilled the housing with 24 quarts of new GL1. What an instant improvement in hydraulic performance. Brought the old girl right back to farm ready. This restifying hobby is starting to become addictive :)

Water enters the system through the bottom of the gear lever (fit a rubber boot to stop it)the other place is under the Draft Control Spring behind the seat there is a felt sealing washer that goes hard and wears, it enters here is you wash the tractor or leave it outside in the rain. The official oil change interval is 720 hours which is every 12 months even if you don't use it, the oil will deteriorate with standing. Barry's idea of changing it spring and winter is great if you are willing to do it, it can do nothing but good.

Hi Overunder1--- What you have is water or moisture in your oil. This happens from time time. Do regular oil changes in the spring and fall and everything should be fine. Not sure how the mmoisture would be getting in there. If the oid had not been changed in a few years then it might have gotten in there over time, Hope this helps
