Hi, I am doing a restoration on my TO35 and noticed the remains of some thin metal under the right floorboard in the front. Was there a heat shield on the underside of this floorboard? There also seems to be a countersunk hole in the middle of the board that is not on the left floorboard. The right one does get warm with the muffler just below. If someone has a photo they could post that would be great. My books don"t show much detail of this part..... ..Thanks Richard F

There was a piece of asbestos under the right foot step to shield the driver's foot from muffler heat. The hole is for a bolt to hold the bracket supporting the muffler/tail pipe assembly. Another support bracket was bolted to the rear round access hatch holding the hydraulic dip stick.

Thanks Paul, I picked up some black mat material from the welding shop that I thought I would add. This is the stuff that you can put a torch to and then shortly touch it and no heat remains. Glad to know this is not something that Harry missed. Great minds think alike. LOL..... ..... ...Richard
