I"m in the process of rebuilding this jewel for use on my small farm. Will it pull/run a hay bailer, looking for options, brands?

i ran a 30 on a baler for a long time when i was a kid and i did not seem to have any problem with it. the 20 is'nt much smaller. sure if you have something bigger to run it with it would be smart to do so.

You are going to get both yes and no answers... Mine is "yes, it can, but just barely..." We have pulled both an IH self powered (with its own engine) and a PTO powered John Deere 14T baler behind a '52 TO-30... It worked, in both cases, but it was a hassle.... For the powered IH, the baler was very heavy, sunk into the turf,, made the 30 light in the front.. but it could do it if it was not too hilly or wet.. The JD 14T had different problems... 1 - 1st gear is not slow enough and there are not enough speed choices and without live PTO, you need to bump it out of gear ( a quick clutch with a bump on the gear shift) to coast into those lumps and then get back n gear and go..It is not geared well for speeds. 2.-It was marginally powered.. It could handle the baler okay but if you were pulling a full wagon of bales behind it on soggy or hilly ground, it didn't have enough weigth or power to make a go of it... We finally put the 720D on it, primarily die to the live PTO and gearing (power was overkill)... Our attitudes got better too!! If you have a choice... use something bigger.. J2

Probably not. It sure was too much for my TO-20 and mine was in pretty good shape. My TO-35 handled it fine. Personally, I think the TO-20 is just under powered for the task. Bailers absorb an awful lot of power. The TO-20 is just starting out with 24 hp. Someone else might have a different opinion, For my purposes the 20 was just not enough.
