I really would like to get the K N filter on my TEA 2085. I really would like to replace the oil bath air filter. Has anyone done this with a TEA and , if so, could you provide me with the correct part(s) number? I posted a similar query at the end of the last K N discussion but got no replies and am hoping it was just overlooked. If I need to contact the company for their reccomendations, what kind of info will they need from me? Thanks for any help Paul F B

Folks: Here's another link that might help you. I used the RE 0260 on my 35. Don't know if it will fit the TEs.

Folks: On my MF35, I took off the rubber piece that sits on top of the filter canister and put a K&N on. Measure how much height you have and the diameter you can use, and the diameter of the pipe on top where the rubber piece came off. I used this chart to pick one for mine, but I don"t know what size fits any of yours.

I just bought one for my TE 20.
K & N enigineering was very helpful in selecting a filter for my application.
Contact: thomasw@knfilter.com
Tell him your engine size in cubic inches, the maximum RPM of your engine, and the diameter of the intake. He will provide a part number so you can order it. I suggest you also purchase the prefilter, which is a cover that fits over the cone to prevent the entry of the big stuff.
Let us know how you make out with this.

I think what he is looking for is a part numer for the app to update the antiquated oil bath to a later oil/cotton gauze filter for better filtering and airflow. To do this, you will likely want the filter in the same location as the original. Modifications will have to be made to the original assembly (read cut). Then go to your summit, jegs, or advance website and using your available measurements, lookk for one that will fit. I am sure there are cone filters that will work well in this application.

K/N is an oil bath, you must use oil on the filter or it won`t work. Either a dry paper or the stock oil bath.

The K & N design is NOT an oil bath type.
It's hard to describe, but the filter is sprayed with a special oil, designed to trap small dirt particles. The advantage is that this filter is far more efficient than the original design could afford. It is washable, using a special cleaner from K & N, which is available at any AutoZone, etc. Once the filter is cleaned, you simply spray a light coating of this red-looking oil onto the filter and it's good for a very long time, unless you are operating in extremely dirty conditions.

Really, I was hoping someone with a TEA had already made the conversion and could supply me with #'s so I could order it up. I sent the company an E-mail but they want me to call. Thanks for the info as to the specs they'll be looking for ect. A couple of responder's seemed to indicate that I might not be any farther ahead with the update. This is all Greek to me- just that I saw other fellows on this forum discussing the K N filters and thought it would be worth looking into. I appreciate anyone's opinion as to the value of these filters- negative or positive. Thanks guys. Paul F B

Dennis; I will let you know how I make out with the K N filter if I decide to go with it. I wish there was more input as to the practical application of this filter. Sounds like it's easy to install and may actually increase HP. Paul F B
