I was putting my distributer on my TO-20 and I broke the bolt holding it down in place. I tried to grab it with a vise grips and turn it out, but am having a hard time. There is not a whole lot sticking out. Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Use your Dremel to cut a slot in it and use a screw driver to get it out. Or weld a flat washer to it then weld a nut to the flat washer to use a wrench on then unscrew it. Good Luck and N-JOY!!!!! 1

All the suggestions are good, but don't forget you can also buy LEFT-handed drill bits. With one of them, when you are drilling the hole and the bit catches, it screws the bolt right on out. A good tool store will sell you a kit of bits and easy-outs. Good Luck!

If all else fails, you can carefully center punch the screw, drill it with the appropriate size drill bit and retap the threads.I've used this method without fail.

two suggestions for the broken bolt - drill a
small hole down the center of the bolt and use an ezeeout or I have been successful several times by using a small chisel. Hold the chisel as horizontal as possible and lighty tap on the edge the bolt with a small hammer trying to drive it in the direction to remove it. You need to alternate sides of the bolt always tapping in the direction to remove the bolt.

or weld a nut to it, easier to unscrew then.

Weld a flat washer to the part that's sticking out.

Let it cool.

Unscrew the broken bolt.
