I am quickly finding out options to replace a broken lift cover are few. Does anyone know if the lift cover is cast steel or cast iorn? If it is cast steel I think welding would solve my problem. However, if it is cast iorn I am not sure. Also, My tractor is a 56 model that had a 2 1/2 in lift cylinder on it. Is the main difference in the lift covers the bold holes for the lift cylinder or are their other differences such as the lift ahaft diameter? I would appreciate any advice

Hi there.

It is weldable.

A tip, there is a welding electrode I will recommend, Certanium 889 SP. Can weld in all positions, no need for pre-heating, no need for just welding a little piece at a time and hammer the weld.

Just weld and be done with it. This electrode is the most magnificent electrode I have ever come across for cast iron.

Thanks, I will try to find some. I just have a small wire welder so I have already contacted someone locally about fixing this. He has done otehr welding jobs for me and is very good. Can you find those rods at most welding supply shops?

Hi.

My MF 65 have a welded lift cover, have had for 27 years now. Works fine.

I have no idea about finding the rods for you... let me see.

You can shop online. But, I would suggest you should talk to them first about it.

Wengers is currently out of them. I haven"t tried ti others though. I got a list of used parts houses from Bob in KY, and have tried a couple. VERY EXPENSIVE!!! Wengers was more reasonable but was out of them.
