BOTH TRACTORS HAVE Z129 ENGINE. BURNT ONE IS MISSING ALL I.D. PLATES,THE QUESTION IS, WHAT YEAR IS THE BURNT TO30. WHAT YEAR CAME WITH THE SMALLER IGNITION SWITCH? HAS TO BE A 51 OR A 53 RIGHT? WHATS WITH THE FANCY NUMBERS ON THE SHIFTER PLATE?

If the plate has gone, look for the engine serial number, between the coil and the distributor. Standard Motors engines had the numbers stamped in the block, Continental engines had a plate with the number stamped in that.

If the plates are melted off, you can still read the casting number on the engine. If it has Z120, it is a TO20, if it has Z129, it is a TO30. The TO20 also has the oil filter up inside the oil pan, not the TO30, I believe. You'll notice quite a few other differences if they are side by side. TO30 was not made in England, but they had differences in their TE20, TEA20, etc.

On the dash just above the steering column is a metal plate with the serial number stamped on it. It'll look like TO-ABCDE. If you can find those numbers, you can go the the Research & Info section on the left side of this forum, click on Serial Numbers and then look in the Ferguson section and find the year.
