I see many comments about camshafts and nuts falling off on the 120 & 129 engines on the to -20 and 30's. Just what was the trouble with those anyway. Is the cam gear alumimum. Is there a permanent fix for that? Also, how fast will they run with a Sherman overdrive. I seem to remember that there are a couple of different overdrives beside a Sherman. How do you know what you got. This one feels like there is three positions on the lever and it comes out on the left side of the trans. I forgot to write down the serial number of the tractor so I don't know what year it is.
I can't hardly wait to get my TO-20 home!! Thanks
Irv

I thought someone from USA would have answered this one for you. The cam gear is not aluminium it is a fibre material if I remember correctly, they work ok. I would think the only fix for that nut is possibly loc-tite, make sure it is all clean before you stick it though. From what you say about that Sherman box, it does sound as though it is a Hi and Lo box, go to this site for more info about them:-http://home.att.net/~jmsmith45/sherman.htm

John,
I got it home last weekend and tried to start it. When it turned it over the govenor arm moved back and forth so I quit on it till I get the front pulled off. Definately something wrong in there. It sounds like the compression is quite even so I'm pretty hopeful on the rest. I'll check out the sherman site when I get home tonight.
Thanks again for the info
Irv
