I just bought same for $175.00 (CDN) - small world. Mine is missing the original colters and the jointers. Probably a mistake to buy it without these - will I ever find ones? The plough is pretty much useless without them. Caveat Emptor!! Chuck

I paid $350 for one that looks brand new. That one looks like a good yard piece.

First, yout TO-30 should be able to pull a two bottom plow (2x14") in second gear in all but the most stubborn hard soil and even then, 1st gear is available if you can keep wheel traction. (This is based on experience with my TO-30.)

Second, this plow looks to be in quite poor condition and is missing some important parts (the coulters?, the tail wheel?) not to mention the worn mouldboards (which are replaceable). I would think that you should be able to find a working complete decent one for about $250 and even if you had to spend more, it would be worth it.

I wouldn't walk away from that deal.... I'd run -the labour & parts reqd. to fix it, added to buying price, will be beyond purchase price of a decent one.
Someone posted that they plowed to 7" deep. I'd call that breezing - I like to plow nearly 'square' - 12" deep for a 14" furrow, 14" deep for a 16" etc.
Within reason, the deeper the better - less pan, better aeration & weed control.

Would this be too much for my 1952 TO30? Should I try to find a 1 bottom plow instead? Or can I just remove one of the plows and use it that way?

It's a day's work to take one of these things apart and get it back together. The bolts are fine thread, torqued to 100 ft pounds, then rusted. I wore out a 1/2" drive socket before I was finished making a 2 furrow plow out of a 3 bottom #72.

Your TO-30 was designed, and intended to pull a 2 bottom plow.
This plow looks like crap, I wouldn't give $100 for it even if it was delivered to my door(though I already have a plow)
You should be able to buy a good servicable plow with all the parts, and less rust, for ~$200-300 on about any given weekend farm action. My guess is you would spend more money to buy this plow and fix it than to keep looking for a better plow.

your '52 TO30 should play with that, even if it is rusted like it is. I could pull that with my '47 2n in 1st gear. I pull a 2x14 with my '47 2n in 2nd gear! Both tractor and plow are in tip top shape. We plow 20 acres of 30% sand and 70% black dirt. All polws are set to a furrow depth of 7 inches that way you get a nice flat even field when done.

we plowed with a TE 20 3rd gear the tractor had a TO 30 head, and a overbore kit also the Te had a lower gear in the ring gear the TE20 could put it on the To 20, Oh plow to HIGH !
